BusyNest is a Minority Business Improvement company started
in 2001 with the goal of giving support to manufacturing businesses
owned by people from underrepresented minority groups. The BusyNest.com
Internet Mall opened in Fall of 2002, and it provides these
manufacturers with a new avenue to consumers, as well as an
opportunity to network with each other.
In July of 2001, four successful
professionals from fields of technology and creative arts came
together with a common focus. We knew that there was a tremendous
need for manufacturing firms owned by specific groups of Americans,
and that major support for these groups did not exist due to
a lack of personal connections in the manufacturing fields.
Most people don't realize that less than 2% of manufacturing
firms are owned by the groups we are looking to help (Black
Americans, Latino Americans and Native Americans). And, when
you look at the size of the firms that are owned, the issue
becomes that much more serious.
The four professionals
that came together to build BusyNest work hard as executives
of the company to provide the support and access that
is not otherwise readily available. The founders include
an Aerospace Engineer (yes, we have a rocket scientist,
just in case it does take one), a Computer/Electrical
Engineer, who was a Black Engineer of the Year nominee,
a Master of Computer Science, whose experience in web
design includes everything from e-commerce to the entertainment
industry, and an experienced entrepreneur, who also
happens to be a member of American Mensa (the high IQ
society). On paper it's a tremendous team. But the attributes
that are most important in making these four founders
rightly qualified, is their concern for, and dedication
to the mission of the company.
By the way, the most visible
member of our team is Nester, the “busy” bird
your see in different areas of the mall. To find out more
